Epcot makes it to No.2 spot on our list of things to do at Disney World thanks to its originality and dedication to cutting-edge science and technology. This is a theme park with a difference; less emphasis is placed on the rollercoasters and cartoon characters, instead shifted more towards providing an educational, eye-opening experience for visitors of all ages. ‘Future World’ showcases some of civilization's greatest endeavours and innovations through history, while over at the ‘World Showcase’ you’re transported around a giant man-made lake to learn about 11 different countries around the world. Just like all of the main amusement parks at Disney, separate day-passes are available for Epcot starting at just over $100, with park-hopper and multi-day options available too. Read More...

One more for the kids – and all those Disney movie buffs out there – Hollywood Studios proves year-on-year to be one of the most popular attractions at Disney World, if not the whole of Orlando. The 10 million visitors who flock here every year come to see the wide variety of shows, exhibitions and performances, as well as experience plenty of Hollywood blockbuster-themed rides and simulators. Just some of the highlights include ‘The Great Movie Ride’, themed around some of the classics such as Alien, Casablanca and the Wizard of Oz, the hugely popular ‘Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!’, a live-action ride that takes you on your very own adventure through Spielberg’s movie Raiders of the Lost Ark and also ‘Animation Courtyard’, the best place to bring the kids for some fun meet-and-greets with some of the famous Disney characters. The first water park to make our list of best attractions at Disney World Florida is the cool and slightly crazy Typhoon Lagoon. As well as plenty of fun slides, flumes and rides for the kids, this amusement park also has an educational side to it, with opportunities to get up close to a variety of sea life and learn more about their habitats. You can even jump into the ‘Shark Reef’, a 363,000-gallon tank of saltwater with an array of marine species – all of which are safe to swim with… without getting bitten! The rapids and signature wave pool are both good fun too. Tickets start at $58 for the day. Read More...

The concept at this park is rather wacky, but undeniably fun; ‘Blizzard Beach’ was supposedly once a ski-resort which ‘melted into a watery wonderland’. The result is a mishmash of snow-capped mountains that you can slide your way down next white-sanded beaches for relaxing by the unusually warm ‘artic’ waters. One highlight is ‘Mount Gushmore’ – home to one of the world’s tallest and fastest waterslides, and there're plenty of other less hair-raising slides and attractions to keep the whole family occupied for the day. Tickets are $58 – the same price as Disney World’s other water park called ‘Typhoon Lagoon’ (park-hopper passes are available). Read More...

Aside from the theme parks, one of the most popular activities in Orlando is golfing… and guess what? Disney World Resort has four courses of their very own! Aside from the Mickey Mouse-shaped bunkers and branded flags, these are the real deal; perhaps the pick of the bunch can be found at Lake Buena Vista, an 18-hole course spread over some particularly lush and well-maintained surroundings. A single round generally starts at the $50 mark per person, and don’t worry if you didn’t bring your own clubs as equipment is available for hire (for a small extra charge). There’s also a chance to enjoy Lake Buena Vista’s extensive facilities, which include an onsite clubhouse, changing rooms, restaurant and bar. Read More...

Your kids’ trip of a lifetime to see Mickey and Co at Disney World simply isn’t complete without witnessing the spectacular that is Wishes Nighttime, the iconic firework show that illuminates Cinderella’s Castle at The Magic Kingdom every night. The first firework is sent up into the night sky at 22:00 sharp, with the show lasting 12 minutes in total. Ticket holders who have spent the day at Disney can get up close for the best vantage points at the end of Main Street, although the firework display can also be enjoyed from outside the park – as long as you have a good view of the main castle, you’ll be able to enjoy the display for free!
