The Orlando Museum of Art
Orlando is a great destination for theme parks, shopping, fine dining, and even art. The Orlando Museum of Art is located at 2416 North Mills Avenue. Currently on display until July 23 is an exhibit called The Art of the Motorcycle. This exhibit explores the motorcycle as a cultural icon and a design achievement. The Art of the Motorcycle is based on a popular exhibit that opened at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 1998. The exhibit challenges your thoughts on art and pop culture in the modern world. Also on display is an ongoing exhibit called Aztec to Zapotec: Selections from the Ancient Americas Collection. The exhibit features more than 150 pieces that were created before Christopher Columbus arrived in America. Upcoming exhibitions include Paths to Impressionism: French and American Landscape Paintings from the Worcester Art Museum, Divine Revolution: The Art of Edouard Duval Carrié, and Gee’s Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt. Normal hours for the Orlando Museum of Art are Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4pm, and closed Mondays and major holidays. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (65+), college students with ID and groups of 10 or more, $5 for students ages 6-18, and free for children age 5 and younger.
